100Mbps Wireless LAN: What about security?

In an article posted in MobileMonday, it discusses the release of a new high-speed Wireless LAN access technology called 802.11n. The IEEE has started discussions on this standard. However, folks do not seem interested:

“[802.11n] would require a hardware forklift for most folks, including us, where we seem to be able to deliver adequate performance for real-time services, or other bandwidth consumers, with 802.11g/a,” says Brad Noblet, COO for Harvard University’s faculty of arts and sciences.

This is probably a general sentiment amongst those providers who have rolled out massive wireless LAN networks with old 802.11a/b/g technology. They are looking for some compelling reason to make the shift. More bandwidth is not enough.

Will they be doing Wireless LAN security better this time? Wireless LAN security nowadays seem to be discussed as a side note and most vendors simply do not care about it that much. Majority of the commercial wireless LAN roll-outs use an additional “something on top” for security (capture portals, VPN, …). Will 802.11n be any different?
