Emerging PSP-conomy?
Slashdot has this nice article about a site dedicated to the Playstation Portable (PSP) (The commentary also contains lists of other PSP sites) . It carries a list of the latest and weirdest accessories and gadgets. Here you can find things to doubling your PSP’s battery life, case that allows you to carry everything and a fancy DVD protector.
This site only contains the tip of the iceberg when it comes to PSP accessories. However, it is interesting to note that for a fairly new product small businesses are growing around the PSP fairly quickly. All the manufacturers mentioned in this site are not affiliated with Sony. This is a common trend when products become popular. A small economy grows around these products. This small economy in turn also feeds the growth of the product while the product is the reason for the growth of this small economy. Other economies like the iPodeconomy, Googleconomy and Skypeconomy have grown in the past. So what is next? Camera attachments, Linux for PSP and TV tuner? Oh these things already exist or will exist soon. Stay tuned!

It would be very cool if the PSP could be linked with the PS2 or 3. With that setup, we could borrow processing power from the PS2/3. While grid computing has been discussed with homogenuous arrays of PS3 already, i’d like to see it expand and include the PSP ~ much like the concept of how terminals are connected to the mainframes for processing power.
Or if the psp could function as an enhanced controller ~ where the mini-screen can provide additional video feedback real estate. this can go a long way for sports fanatics and rpg players. though this has concept has been done before by sega’s dreamcast, it would be neat to find one in the PSP/2/3.

hmmm… the parallel computing part is interesting but esoteric at best since the PS/2 does not have much CPU anyway. however, that might change with the PS/3.
although, i like your idea about the enhanced controller. maybe somebody can make hardware for that. the multiplayer fanatics will really have fun. in general, better interaction between PSX units should be made possible.
