Square Enix Goes Mobile
I rarely write about games and the computer entertainment business. But, this is one exception. I just read from the Mobile Technology Blog that Square Enix has decided to move into the mobile space. Being a big fan of the former Square Soft and its line of games, I could not resist the urge to write about it.
Alongside the announcement of the release of one of their own titles on mobiles, Square Enix are also planning on publishing a number of classic Taito games, updated for mobile handsets, as well as Braveshot 2, a new title of their own.
Aside from these games, Square-Enix is more popularly known as the publisher of the Final Fantasy line of games. It is interesting to note the evolution of Final Fantasy games. In the 90s, I played these games on the Nintendo Gameboy and NES platforms. Later on, they moved their games to the Nintendo SNES platform. Even later on, they moved to the Sony Playstation. Finally, they have even released PC and Sony Playstation 2 versions. However, the portable edition of the series first released in the Nintendo Gameboy has been stuck in the Nintendo Gameboy. At least finally, they have decided to move into a new portable platform … the mobile phone (j2me). Game on!
