The New Googleplex Node?
Here is an article on Google’s new secret facility in Oregon by The New York Times. This new facility is a new node added to the thousands of inexpensive computer systems data centers around the world that form the large and powerful computing system called the Googleplex (Which is also the new of a very powerful computer in the book Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.
Here is the picture of the facility care of the New York Times:

The pictures shows a site the size of an entire export processsing zone here in the Philippines. Google seems to never stop accumulating computing power. It just keeps on building new and more powerful data centers. This new location appears to be appropriate due to it proximity to a cheap hydro-electric power source and raw fiber optic infrastructure. Now, Google has the raw materials to add another bunch of thousands of node into the Googleplex.
The fact that Google is behind the data center, referred to locally as Project 02, has been reported in the local press. But many officials in The Dalles, including the city attorney and the city manager, said they could not comment on the project because they signed confidentiality agreements with Google last year.
“No one says the ‘G’ word,” said Diane Sherwood, executive director of the Port of Klickitat, Wash., directly across the river from The Dalles, who is not bound by such agreements. “It’s a little bit like He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named in Harry Potter.”
In the tradition of all Google’s facilities, this one is no exception it is big and it is also ultra-secret. Why all the secrecy? Well, maybe it is just because they don’t want to give a hint to their competitors on how “Google’s Secret Sauce” is made. By hidding all aspects of Google’s operations the only thing most people can do is guess.
However, one thing is certain: Google has mastered the art of commodity high performance computing. Additionally, Google is one company that has really made money using open source software
and commodity hardware.
