Offline Blogging with BloGTK
Migs just blogged about his forays into offline blogging with w.bloggar. Unfortunately, w.bloggar is only available for MS Windows boxen. So, I searched from something that will run on Linux and found BloGTK.
BloGTK is a weblog client that allows you to post to your weblog from Linux without the need for a separate browser window. BloGTK allows you to connect with many weblog systems such as Blogger, Movable Type, WordPress, and more. BloGTK Main Window. BloGTK is written using Python and PyGTK, and is designed to be fast and simple to use.
BloGTK is open-source software released under the BSD license, which means that it is completely free for use.
So far the tool looks pretty good. I am creating this blog entry using BloGTK. I just did a “yum -y install blogtk” on my FC5 box. It has a spell checker and a decent preview windows. I just wished that it could manage my drafts online too instead of saving it on disk. Also, I wish it could update my list of categories too. However, this is a pretty good start. I still mind blogging on my mobile phone too limiting. This will have to do.

I think the point of having a client like BloGtk is that you have an offline set too

Formerly, you can run w.bloggar on wine. I used Drivel beforce but I now use Performancing for Firefox. Very nifty extension for FF, I can blog about a webpage I see right away

That is true. BloGTK allows me to keep offline copies of my entries. Also, it has a nice spell check. So, this is definitely an interesting use.
I tried out the performancing plugin too. But, it requires an Internet connection. I sometimes write blogs totally offline. So, it would be best if it did not require it.
