GSMA Mobile Innovation Forum: In Search of Innovation
Innovation comes from strange places. It is something people search for and rarely find. Sometimes, they are the product of resources and access. Other times, they are the product of pure genius. And at times, they are just the product of plain ole luck. No matter where innovation comes from the mobile industry has been a melting pot of a lot of innovation lately. It does not seem to stop being so. However, a lot of innovation occurs but is not made know to us. Sometimes, they just don’t have the necessary capital or market access. The GSM Association (GSMA) has decided to do something about those far and beyond innovations. Basically, help them out into the world. They have introduced the Mobile Innovation Forum (MIF).
The prestigious Mobile Innovation Awards are designed to encourage and showcase innovation in the global mobile space by providing the opportunity for innovators in small, young and start-up companies to present ideas to leading industry investors and mobile operators. This award represents an opportunity to take a great technology, application or service idea from concept to launch through a unique, high profile platform - the GSMA’s Mobile Innovation Forum at the 3GSM World Congress 2007, the world’s largest annual mobile industry event.

I hope to see more Philippine companies join the GSM MIF next year. Our country has a lot of potential as we are a very innovative GSM market with a lot of innovative GSM products. A product that can’t make it in this market probably might make it in another. Heck, we are not the SMS capital of the world for nothing.
PS. I decided to blog about this because I will be leaving for Barcelona tomorrow. Hopefully, the long haul flight won’t be too taxing. I am not sure about my Internet access over there so I hope you guys are prepared for a hip2b2 blogging break.
