Yu Chu Village: Ancestral Home

An uncle of mine just came back from a family roots trip to China. We are fortunate enough to have him document his trip with a few good pictures. I have selected a few pictures of our ancestral village. It is the Village of Yu-Chu in the Jiaomei Town, Longhai City, Zhangzhou, Fookien Province, China (near Xiamen City).

The village’s architecture looks like a typical mix of traditional Chinese masonry in communist-style functionality. The area itself could use a few more trees and greenery. It played host to over twenty (20) generations of my ancestors. I still have a lot of distant relatives living there too. This is one of those places where nearly everybody is a relative. If I am able to get more pictures I will be posting them under the yuchu tag in flickr. Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Actually, this is provincial China way out in the boondocks. Of course, China tours will normally bring your to Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Macau with are mostly urbanized already. I would like to take some of these tours too someday.

Aside from more greens, I believe hiding the overhead wiring would be nice.
